Ify is John Dumelo's new girlfriend.

Dumelo and co-star Omotola
We are all aware that John Dumelo is one of the Ghana film industry’s hot properties, not only is he a favourite amongst the majority of the Ghanaian population (especially the ladies), but he also has a number of top films under his belt- certifying his position as one of Ghana’s most talented and handsome actors.

Therefore, it is no surprise that most of the female population want a piece of this man. Mr Dumelo has been linked with a host of ladies since becoming a prominent face in Ghanaian films; some of his rumoured alleged conquests have included former co-stars such as Yvonne Nelson, and unknowns such as a female called Nnenda (a Civil Engineering Graduate and the daughter of the Former President of Nigeria’s Bar Association).

Once again, Mr Dumelo has been linked to a new love, this time, in the form of a half-Ghanaian and half-Nigerian young lady by the name of Ify.

Ify is a Fabric Designer with her own company by the name of ‘Ada-Esi Fabrics’, a source exclusively revealed to GhanaCelebrities.Com how she was present when Ify was talking on the phone to her ‘boyfriend’- none other than Mr Dumelo - during a fabric exhibition held in Nigeria, on 29th of December.

On several occasions before the said phone call, Ify had referred to Mr Dumelo as her ‘boyfriend’, and during the phone conversation- which was to enable John to briefly speak to some of his fans- she frequently called him ‘baby’, “my baby”. The source stated that although John was not present at the exhibition, there was a stand featuring only his pictures and designs.

Before the criticisms regarding the authenticity of this source begins, our source currently in Nigeria told us that, Ify and her share a mutual friend, who revealed to the source that Ify’s Blackberry profile picture is a picture of her and John together and has on numerous occasions referred to John Dumelo as her man.

Following these latest revelations, GhanaCelebrities.Com contacted John Dumelo to hear what he had to say about these latest rumours. Although Mr Dumelo did confirm that he is currently in a relationship, he also made it clear that it was not with anyone called Ify. He mentioned that Ify is a mere friend to him.citifmnews.

I have not moved to Nollywood - Van Vicker

Van Vicker in the studios of Citi FM
Although it is very obvious that Actor Van Vicker, who started his career in showbiz in Ghana, appears to have found solace in the oil rich state of Nigeria where he has become a star actor, he has told Citi FM’s Jessica Opare Saforo that he has not moved to Nollywood.

Back home in Ghana, movie lovers and producers have criticized the gentle and fresh-looking actor for neglecting the growing Ghana movie industry for Nollywood where the industry is bigger and pays well.

Others have also lauded him and urged him to fly high the flag of Ghana.

In an exclusive interview with Citi FM where he co-hosted “Host of Brunch In The Citi” with Jessica Opare Saforo, Van Vicker said he is seen to be acting more in Nigeria because the demands of the job take him there a lot.

“I haven’t moved to Nollywood. It is just that I happen to do a lot of my jobs there. It’s a little complicated managing my time between Ghana and Nigeria and Europe. I know 2011 is a different story. I am joining the producers Association in Ghana and I will be speaking to them. In 2011, I will act more Ghanaian movies. It is not as if I am not acting in Ghana because I don’t want it” he explained.

Joseph Fiifi Van Vicker noted that he is not in Nigeria because of the financial gains although he admits that the market there is bigger.

The fair-skinned Actor who is often compared to Nigerian Ramsey Nouah and fellow Ghanaian actor Majid Michel, denied suggestions that his chances in Ghana have been blocked by Majid Michel hence his decision to act in Nigeria.

Vicker was born to a Liberian mother and a Dutch father but has a Ghanaian background.

The ‘Romantic Male Actor’ is married to Adjoa Van Vicker and they have two lovely daughters.

He founded and runs the Van Vicker Foundation, an outreach program for upcoming young artists. citifm news.

Okudzeto grabs wife, flies abroad for honeymoon

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
Credible information reaching the Daily Guide newspaper indicates that Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over the weekend emplaned to Wa, the Upper West regional capital, on a flight with his friends for a secret wedding ceremony, which ended up being the most topical subject in town.

Our sources revealed that among the entourage of the deputy minister was Dr. Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology and other bigwigs in government. The Deputy Minister was said to have married Noella Seidu, a final year law student at the University of Ghana. She is the daughter of former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central M.A. Seidu.

Though it was an Islamic wedding ceremony, it is unclear if the groom is a Muslim or intended to be one very soon. Our information had it that Noella, a slim, dark, tall and sexy-looking, is a product of University of Ghana where she read political science and did her national service in the News Department of Metro Television in Accra. She was also used for one of the numerous NDC adverts in the run-up to the 2008 elections.

Noella was said to have lost an election at the Law Faculty when the students got to know that she was the girlfriend of the loquacious Okudzeto. It is also gathered that the former MP, whose daughter got married, is an Ahmad while his wife and daughter belong to the Fountain Gate Chapel of Rev. Eastwood Anaba. It was based on the father’s religious affiliation that the ceremony was performed in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Daily Guide sources also revealed that the couple had early planned a quiet ceremony but when the aircraft conveying Okudzeto and his entourage allegedly arrived at the Wa airstrip, it broke the usual monotony and silence of the town, drawing so much attention, which intimately led to the wedding becoming a funfair.

Other invited guests also travelled in a long convoy from Accra to Wa for the life-time ceremony. Deep throat sources say the minister and his bride left for London for their honeymoon soon after the ceremony, which attracted a number of NDC members within the Wa municipality. Checks at the Ministry of Information confirmed the Deputy Minister had not reported to office since Monday. Speculations have it that he has taken his annual leave, lending credence to suggestions the he is indeed honey-mooning outside the shores of Ghana.

Embattled NUGS president accuses gov't for his exit

Anthony Abotsi Afriyie
The President of the National Union of Ghana Students has described his removal from office as null and void and accuses Government of being behind the purported emergency Congress where a vote of no confidence was passed in him.

Anthony Abotsi alleges without mentioning names, that certain individuals within Government are sowing seeds of dissension in the Union.

He has threatened to expose such officials at a News Conference scheduled for Wednesday December 8.

The emergency Congress on Saturday December 4, was a reply to an alleged unilateral action by Mr. Abotsi who had earlier suspended two of the Union’s executives.

The Congress resolved that his actions were illegal. He is also accused of interfering in the University Students Association, which is a member of the Union.

The two suspended executives, the General Secretary Patrick Adonu and International Relations Secretary, Benedicta Lasi, have consequently been reinstated.

Patrick Adonu takes over until fresh elections are held in 21 days.  But Mr. Abotsi told Citi News that the Union’s members who organised the emergency congress are stooges of certain individuals in Government.

“It is about time we told the public about the kind of government interference that have gone into all of these since the congress” he said.
However, the Acting President of the Union, Patrick Adonu has issued a disclaimer describing Mr. Abotsi as a persona non-grata.
He told Citi News the Union has alerted the security agencies to arrest Mr. Abotsi if he purports or acts as the NUGS President.
Mr. Adonu denies claims by the dismissed NUGS President that certain persons in Government influenced the vote of no confidence against him.

“All that he is saying are lies. How can whichever Government official influence the minds of the local NUGS and SRC presidents? The truth of the matter is that Ghanaian students are discerning enough and we know what is good for us so we do it accordingly" he said.

Come help develop the oil, Mills urges Ghanaians in diaspora

President John Mills is encouraging Ghanaians living in the Diaspora return home to partake in the upcoming expected economic boom.
According to the President, the many opportunities that come with the oil exploration and the many loans for development should not be allowed to go without active participation of Ghanaians.
In that regard, he is urging Ghanaians of all professional shades abroad to endeavor to come home to make available their expertise whilst reaping from the development.
Professor Mills made these remarks when he interacted with some Ghanaians resident in Tripoli, Libya on the sidelines of the 3rd AU-EU Summit. He was hopeful that those who have acquired knowledge in fields relevant to various sectors in the economy will heed the call and return to Ghana.
“We are hoping to expand our economy, be able to initiate a number of projects, so that some of you can decide come back home and you will have something worthwhile and useful to do.
“Some of our friendly brothers and sisters have made available to us resources and we want to use these resources for the benefit of our people and to expand our economy. There are therefore many areas which call for the creation of jobs, and I am sure that within the next few months, Ghanaians will begin to see new initiatives being taken.”
He further urged them to join hands in the government’s quest to bring investors into the country.
“If you come across any investors who also want to come and invest in Ghana, try and bring them. We want to form a mutually beneficial partnership with foreign direct investors.”

Chambas calls for fair distribution of oil revenue

Dr Mohamed Chambas, Executive Secretary of the African, Carribean and Pacific (ACP) Group, has stressed the need for a balancing act between meeting the needs of the people in the Western Region of Ghana and a fair distribution of the revenue from oil and gas.

He said the demand by people of the Western Region to allot 10 per cent of the oil revenue to be used to develop the region was not a new phenomenon.

Dr Chambas suggested that the government should study the method some oil producing countries were using to address the request.

He said this when he spoke to journalists prior to the opening of the third African/European Union Summit in Tripoli, Libya.

He said the needs of the area where the oil was drilled had to be adequately catered for "but it is also necessary to ensure that oil resources are used in a principled way for national development."

On the summit, Dr Chambas said both Africa and Europe recognized the need for a shift from development aid to cooperation and collaboration between the two continents.

He said the European private sector must collaborate more with the African private sector for investment opportunities.

President John Atta Mills is in the Libyan capital to attend the two-day summit that will discuss issues of governance, climate change, migration and agriculture. The summit is on the theme "Investment, Economic Growth and Job Creation."-source GNA
